Preface
Quantum entanglement represents a very intricate phenomenon, for certain aspects almost magical. In fact, “a pair of particles are generated in such a way that the individual quantum states of each are indefinite until measured, and the act of measuring one determines the result of measuring the other, even when at a distance from each other” (Oxford dictionary). It then becomes a resource that facilitates communication and, furthermore, computation. Quantum’s connection is instant, almost inexplainable to scientists, and although this concept belongs to the realm of physics, to a certain extent, all of us function on similar tracks. The exhibition presented locates itself in a similar context, as the interconnection of each and every participant made it come to life. This show was born from the need to translate into a tangible reality the constant transition, repetition, motion and changes in which we are all involved in. Through their works, the artists expressed their own personal interpretation and reconstruction of the world surrounding us.
This group show became a space for artists to explore different themes in relation with one own self; nature’s elements and their life, migration, the inexpressibility of what is deep inside of us, the immateriality of things, the virtual world… maybe these are the real particles opposite to us, changing and reacting to our actions and movements. We are never truly alone and static, but in a constant state of interaction, whether it being with living creatures, or inanimate objects. In this exhibition, we all enter a broader quantum entanglement, we become the centre, to which everything is connected.
The central theme of entanglement within each other permeates every corner. The show becomes an opportunity for the viewer – as well as the artists and curator themselves, to reflect on the relationships among them, the artwork and the world surrounding them. At a first glance it can appear simple, almost banal, isn’t it something obvious what we are talking about here? Yet, it does not take too long to realise that the transposition the artists made of this theme is specific and personal. It allows time to suspend for a moment and feel the connection with the pieces we have in front of us.
Fleeting moments are weaved into everyday life occasions, tradition is veiled in a recipient for good news, the human body is put under a microscope and memories are shaken and brought to light. Virtual humanoid and AI created images, video games frames are captured and transcend the computer screen, and emotions are intertwined with images and fragments of daily life. In this exhibition, Quantum Entanglement becomes more than a scientific phenomenon—it transforms into a metaphor for the invisible threads that bind us all. We are deeply related to everything, and it takes us a simple step into the exhibition hall to activate these quantum reactions with a mysterious half. Through their works, the artists invite us to pause, to feel, and to reflect on the ways we are connected—not just to each other, but to the world around us. And then take a leap of fate and explore.
